Published: March 23, 2022

Today, many people choose cremation, and direct cremation is among the available methods. At Mill Valley Funeral Home, we pride ourselves on providing tailored cremation services and keeping our clients educated about them.

About Direct Cremation Disposition

Additionally, direct cremation is the least expensive method of disposition since the human remains are incinerated shortly following death. Before cremation, no memorial service is held. The following are some of the process's fundamental characteristics:

· No formal funeral service or pre-funeral gathering is held. It saves you money on expenses associated with a traditional funeral.

· Following death, the remains are cremated.

· The casket is plain and unadorned, as it will be disposed of in an incinerator.

· There will be no visitation or wake, eliminating the need for formalities like embalming.

· After some time has passed, you can organize a memorial ceremony at your convenience, which is less expensive than a traditional funeral service.

It is obvious that if you still wish to have a service, but the disposition would not be direct cremation. In this case, the service will be conducted and the body cremated after that, which would be more costly than direct cremation.
