Irene Longhorn (nee Allison)

Died surrounded by her family at Kawartha Lakes Extendicare Lindsay on Wednesday October 18, 2023 in her 95th year. Loving wife of John for 55 years. Much loved mother of Terry, David (Karen), Vicki, Alison (Colin) and Lesley (Robert). Proud grandma of Christopher, Danial, Stephanie, Heather, Neil, Casey, Erin, Liam, Nathan and Tristan and great grandma of Nolan, Paige, Aiden, Alexandra, Johnny, Micah, Joseph and Aria.  Born in Hull, England, Irene and John immigrated to Canada in 1957.  Irene had a long career as a nurse/midwife extraordinaire. She will be fondly remembered as a compassionate pillar of strength who spent many hours of her own time nursing family and friends through difficult medical recoveries.  Irene loved baking, knitting and ballroom dancing!  Her loss has left a void in all of our lives. We will miss her sense of humour!  Good Night, God Bless Irene.

A memorial service will be held in St. John's Anglican Church, Ida (County Road #10 just north of 4 corners in Cavan) on Saturday November 4th 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior. Rev. Peter Mills officiating.
