Rasmussen, Irma Else (nee: Gustafsen) ~ Gone to join our father.  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Irma (also known as Emma to her friends) at the age of 88 on September 17, 2018 at Case Manor in Bobcaygeon, ON.  Wife of the late Poul Erik Rasmussen.  Mother of Jon, Greta, Lillian, Lena (Michael) and Peter (Wendy).  Grandmother of Candy , Adam (Natasha), Luke (Laura), Kristen (Andrew), Peter, Matthew (Desi), Jessica, Mitchell, Lydia, Rachael, Tyler and Erika.  Great-Grandmother to Dakota, Kassidy, Bennett, Tyson, Troy, Hunter, Connor and Henrik.  Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Irma immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband and 3 oldest children to start a new life in Toronto where they later became Canadian citizens.  They moved to Bancroft in the 1970’s where they operated the  Princess Sodalite Mine.  They then decided to move to Nova Scotia in their later years to be near their love of the ocean.  Irma moved back to Ontario after the death of her husband Poul and settled in the Bobcaygeon area.  Special thanks to all the wonderful nursing staff at Case Manor for their ongoing kindness to our mother during her stay there and especially near the end of her life as well as their support to our family during her passing.

Service Information

At the request of our mother, cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held at a later date. In honour of Irma and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Case Manor would be appreciated.
