Joyce Louise MacKenzie (née Safrance)
June 12, 1933 ~ May 14, 2017
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joyce at home with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Peter MacKenzie (1992) of Guelph, ON. Loving mother of Doug MacKenzie and Trish MacKenzie and her husband Scott Sargent, all of Cavan, ON. Treasured nanny of Mack Sargent. Joyce will be missed by her siblings Pat McEwan (Neil), Chuck Safrance (Bernie), the late Gordon Safrance (the late Mary, survived by Linda Lauzon) and John Safrance (Laurie). She will also fondly be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, Carl and Evelyn Sargent, and her wonderful friends. Joyce was an English Teacher at G.C.V.I for many years until her retirement. In the summer she would enjoy her time at her second home on Lake Fletcher; always loving the beauty of the water and watching the loons. A special thank you to Dr. Beamish, Agape Caregiver Relief and Saint Elizabeth Health Care who helped Joyce have her finals days at home. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 1758 County Rd. 10, Ida on Friday, May 19th at 1:00 p.m. Interment to be held at Belsyde Cemetery, 400 Thistle St., Fergus on June 10th at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Joyce, donations to the World Wildlife Fund would be appreciated.
