Lorna Hanchar Obituary

HANCHAR, Lorna (nee Campbell)

Passed away peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 72, at Caressant Care on Mary Street, on Friday August 9th, 2024. Lorna lost her ongoing battle with Peripheral Vascular Disease.

Lorna leaves behind a very strong and selfless woman in her life. Her pride and joy. Her loving and devoted daughter, Charlene. The bond between these two was unbreakable. Lorna was ALWAYS at her happiest when she spent time with her daughter. Lorna also leaves behind her beautiful grand-furbaby, Pumpkin.

Lorna will always be remembered for her big heart. She always welcomed everyone with open arms and would always put others first. Lorna’s love for any dogs and cats could easily been witnessed with how comforting the animals were in her presence. Lorna will be greatly remembered for her infectious smile. Lorna’s fight and resilience with her numerous health issues, is something to be desired. She would always look at the situation with the utmost optimism. She was always willing to try for hoped success. Even in her difficult times, she would always put her daughter’s concerns and well being first. Lorna will always be remembered for beautiful gardens and flowers. Her patio visits, hot teas, colouring, her grand-furbaby, Pumpkin stories, and the unconditional bond with her daughter, Charlene. Lorna had such a beautiful soul that will never be forgotten.

Lorna has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held with family and close friends.

Many thanks and hugs to the kind staff at Caressant Care on Mary Street. You always treated my mum with the most respect and dignity. The Butterfly Walk had to be one of the most caring and considerate things I have ever been apart of. You treated my mum like a queen!

Countless thanks and huge hugs to those who have been by our side during my mum’s rollercoaster of health. From her numerous hospital stays to her transfer to Caressant Care, the level of support from our friends and family can never be forgotten.

Mum, you were my first friend and you will always be my very best friend. You were my ride or die. My person. You were my sense of logic, my safety, my heart, my soul. I only hope that I can continue to make you proud. Words can never express the love and appreciation I have for you, Mum. May you rest in paradise and be free from any pain and suffering. I hope that Kouper and Dad were waiting for you as you crossed that bridge. Mum, crank it loud, hold it down till I get there. And when I do, I hope you got some new stories to tell. Till then, give heaven some hell. Love you always and forever, Mum.

In lieu of flowers, we would greatly appreciate donations to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes or Community Care of Kawartha Lakes, as they had an huge impact on our lives.
