Passed away peacefully at Golden Plough Lodge on February 26, 2025 in her 97th year. Peggy will be dearly missed by her children Suzanne Juby (Brian), Janice Zerafa (John), Tricia Lisecky & Michael Brown (Anne). Devoted grandmother to Michael Barber, Grant Barber, Skye Juby, Jason Zerafa, Jeff Zerafa (Lisa), Mark Lisecky (Tammy Jeffs), Tim Lisecky (Caitlin Jehane Murtomaki), Stephanie Roberton-Owen, Stefan Brown (Liane), Michelle Brown & Kristian Brown. Loving great grandmother of Hannah Lisecky, Madison Barber, Alex Barber, Milo Barber, Vincent Zerafa, Isaac Zerafa, Claire Brown & Caleb Brown. Peggy will also be sadly missed by all her nieces & nephews.
Born & raised in Toronto, Ontario to parents William and Ann Gray (Ann was a Barnardo Home Child), both from Wellingborough, England. Peggy was a true “rolling stone” who enjoyed working at various jobs in many different cities in Canada & the USA. Peggy truly loved social gatherings of any sort, especially weddings, parties & showers. She was often seen laughing or dancing, being the proverbial ‘life of the party.’ Peggy’s eternal energy seemed nonstop in everything she did as she loved tobogganing in winter & swimming in summer. Her job at The Children’s Aid Society in Scarborough was probably her longest lasting job while she worked in the steno pool & switchboard. Her favourite job was probably looking after dogs at a kennel as her love of the canines was clearly evident especially later when she volunteered with her dog ‘Ollie’ with the St John Ambulance Pet Therapy program. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at the hospital’s foot clinic in Perth before moving to Peterborough, her last residence before Golden Plough Lodge.
Her caregivers there were exceptional in their dedication to Peggy’s care and her family gratefully appreciates the kind compassion she received from the doctors, PSWs & nurses for the 2 1/2 years of her stay at Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg Ontario.
In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life announced at a later date.
Donations in memory of Peggy may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
