(Mary) Velma DiFrancesco (nee Gouthro), December 25, 1937-October 20, 2022 passed peacefully with family by her side. Beloved wife to Angelo, they recently celebrated their 60 th Wedding Anniversary. Loving mother to Christopher (Jennifer), Susan (Patrick) and Elizabeth (Nicklas). She was a very devoted grandmother to Danielle, Julian, Jackson, Daria and Leila. She is survived by her siblings Basil (Evelyn), Dollarita (Paul) and Micheal (Ann). She is predeceased by her son-in-law Nicklas Kirven, sister and brother-in-law Myrna and Larry Norris, sister and brother-in-law Victoria and Ronald MacDonald, brother Raymond (Almina) Gouthro and brother John (Denise) Gouthro. Always devoted to her family, Velma raised some of her younger siblings before having her own children. She was very attached to her Cape Breton roots and had a close and special relationship with her Nova Scotia cousins. She is remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews, on whom she had a positive influence over the years. She always worked at improving herself academically and returned to university to earn her BSW while raising her three children, then earned an MSW while her children were also attending University. She was a Social Worker who helped many people in her community. The family is incredibly thankful and grateful to the wonderful, caring staff at Centennial Place in Millbrook. A Celebration of Life will be announced later. The family is asking in lieu of flowers or donations that everyone make an effort every day to be kind to others.
