Maureen Renton (nee Smith)

Passed away peacefully Sat. Oct 18th 2025 at Extendicare, Cobourg.

Devoted wife of the late David for 62 years. Loving mother of the late Kevin (d. 2023) and the late David (d.2015) Cherished mother-in-law of Shari Renton (nee Little)

Proud grandmother of Claire Irwin (Clayton), Cassandra Gobbee (Joseph), Carson Little (Phoebe), Alexandria Renton and Kyle Renton (Chante Savoy). Loving Great-grandmother of Jett Ross Gobbee and of the late Vienna Rose Irwin. Dear sister-in-law of Anne Renton and Sandy Renton of Bannockburn, Scotland.

Loved aunt of Brian Larkin (Carolyn) of BC.  Maureen will be missed by many family members who live in Scotland, UK.

Maureen will be sadly missed by her dear friend Georgie MacWhirter who shared so much of her life with Maureen for the last 50 years and by her caring cousin Deb Niven who so adored her.

Maureen’s strength has been immeasurable over the last few years, losing her younger son, her husband, her older son and her great-grandchild.

Maureen was born in Stirling, Scotland the youngest of 4 children in June 1941 and came to Canada with David and wee Kevin in 1967 to begin new lives and see what opportunities awaited them. They expanded their family in 1970 with the arrival of young David. Maureen spent many years working at Rothmans Cigarettes and then to Wrigleys Gum in Scarborough. David and Maureen moved to Baltimore in 2001 to be closer to family and friends and loved living their golden years surrounded by their sons and grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Friends and family are invited for a short service to say goodbye to Maureen on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2PM at Mill Valley Funeral Centre, Millbrook ON, with light lunch and Cheers to Maureen following at the home of Shari Renton. (4228 Little Rd., Campbellcroft.ON)

In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Maureen can be made to the Northumberland Humane Society, 2363 Theatre Rd South., Cobourg ON.
