OCT. 25. 1942 TO FEB. 6, 2026
William Lawrence “Larry” Ashby, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.
William is survived by his sisters Joan (late Rodney Parrott) and Donna (Ronald Brimacombe). Predeceased by his brother Ronald Ashby. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
William was born in Northville, Michigan to William and Nina Ashby, spending most of his early years in Port Britain after the family moved there in June 1950.
William retired from 30 years of employment at General Motors of Canada.
Larry was an active Lifetime Member of Port Hope and District Historical Society and was a recipient of the Municipality of Port Hope Civic Award in 2012 for outstanding contribution to Arts and Culture.
Cremation will be taking place in accordance with William's wishes, and there will be no service. Interment at Welcome Cemetery, Port Hope.
Memorial donations to Port Hope and District Historical Society would be appreciated.
